About me

Welcome. I’m honored you’ve taken this step to be here. My name is Caitlin Moroney. I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in trauma, panic and anxiety disorders, and attachment wounds, with a focus on how culture, identity, and early relationships shape the way we move through the world. My work supports clients in reconnecting with themselves, their bodies, and the communities that matter to them. I carry deep passion and purpose in creating space where people can make sense of their inner experience and move toward deeper connection and belonging.

What I offer

I provide individual psychotherapy for adults aged 18 and older in person in the San Diego area and virtually across the state of California.

  • My work is grounded in relational, depth-oriented psychotherapy. We pay attention to how early relationships shaped the ways you protect yourself, seek connection, and make sense of your emotions now. Therapy is a space to explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, rather than judgment or pressure to be “put together.” I work with different parts of you as meaningful adaptations, helping you understand them so your inner world can feel more coherent and less overwhelming.

  • I offer EMDR as a gentle, paced approach to working with trauma and overwhelming experiences. EMDR helps the nervous system process memories that were never fully integrated, so they no longer feel as raw or activating. My work is relational and attuned, with careful attention to safety, grounding, and your readiness before any reprocessing begins. EMDR is integrated with insight-oriented and parts-based work to support meaningful, lasting change.

  • I work with panic and anxiety by slowing down and helping you understand what your nervous system is responding to. Rather than trying to eliminate symptoms, we explore the underlying patterns, fears, and protective strategies that keep anxiety in place. Often, we uncover there is a cycle of “fear of fear” or fear of the experience of anxiety underneath. When helpful, I incorporate collaborative exposure to support your system in learning that feared sensations or situations can be tolerated safely. Therapy focuses on building internal safety, increasing tolerance for emotional and bodily experience, and reducing the need for panic to take over.
